Open Access

- LIBRARY OF THE FACULTY OF FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS

Open access (OA) is a way of publishing research in which authors provide free access to their publications online. The idea is that research should not disappear behind a paywall but be openly available to everyone. Open Access also increases the visibility and dissemination of research.

Open Access at Lund University

Lund University has an Open Access policy for publications and artistic works which means that, as long as there are no copyright reasons or other obstacles (e.g. personal data), research results and artistic works should be registered with open access and an appropriate Creative Commons licence.

Copyrights

In order to make your publications freely available, you need to control the copyright. One way to clarify to the reader how they can reuse the published material is to use Creative Commons licences.

Open access publishing agreements

Researchers at Lund University can take advantage of several agreements to publish open access with reduced or fully covered author fees. The agreements cover both hybrid and fully open access journals, helping your research reach a wider audience and make a greater impact. Learn how the agreements work and how to use them.

APC funding for OA-journals not included in agreements

You can also apply for funding to publish in open access journals that are not covered by the university’s publishing agreements. Here you can find information about the eligibility criteria, how costs are managed, and how to apply for support.

Book fund

As affiliated with Lund University, you can apply to make accepted/published books open access (monographs and anthologies).
