Doctoral education

We offer two different doctoral programs; Artistic Research Program in Fine Arts, Theater or Music and a Music Education Research Program.

Artistic Research Program

The artistic research program is four years and leads to an artistic and philosophical doctoral degree. The educations are based on the artistic knowledge and the artistic work. The emphasis in the studies is on the independent artistic work within the framework of an artistic research project with the aim of developing knowledge of artistic issues.

Music Education Research Program

Music Education as a research field is interdisciplinary in its nature and uses theories and methods from pedagogy, psychology, sociology, philosophy, anthropology, musicology and artistic research to understand and explain music pedagogical phenomena. The purpose of the postgraduate program in Music Education is to provide knowledge and to train independent and critical researchers with a broad subject theoretical knowledge, methodological skills and the ability to independently carry out research projects.
