Finding the Real Thing: Play as Trust, Illusion as Agency, Play as a medium for an art practice / Francis Patrick Brady
A lecture presenting the artistic practice of Francis Patrick Brady who works with VR, LARP, Folk Singing, Storytelling & Play as a medium for creating critically and socially engaged artworks. Play as a method for testing out models of trust where we can feel comfortable when our illusions are shattered. How playful art offers the illusion of agency and how rules can be considered a type of enabling constraint.
Francis Patrick Brady is an artist using play and participation as strategies for creating installation, participatory performance and experiences that challenge the existing rules and structures of our everyday reality. Often his artwork builds an alternative world that runs parallel to our contemporary times using worldbuilding, storytelling and play to engage and involve the audience within the creation of the work.
